Female Frames, group exhibition at Jupiter, Hamburg

, by Bart Van Kersavond

The exhibition “Female Frames” focusses on the female perspective in graffiti art and thus gives female sprayers a greater presence. Although this art form has gained increasing recognition in recent decades through numerous publications, there are still gender-specific gaps in the discourse. The achievements of women in the field of graffiti have long been overshadowed by the main discussions.

The group exhibition “Female Frames” at the OZM Gallery addresses these historical gaps and shows works by pioneers from the early days as well as new talents who stand for a change in graffiti history. The exhibition presents works by various female artists, including Emesa Amze, Anna T-Iron, La Rue, Rafi die Erste (Stick up Girlz), Dizy (Stick up Girlz), Jennifer Kauka, Lady Wave (AFC), MickLaRock (AFC), Fany (AFC), Ream (AFC), Fluff (AFC) and Shiva (AFC).

The artists use different painting styles, techniques and materials to create their visual expressions. Some works are even created directly on site, allowing site-specific elements to be expressed in the artworks.
