Urbexgraffiti at Fort de la Chartreuse, Liège

, by Bart Van Kersavond

The Fort de la Chartreuse, a fortress near Liège, was built between 1817 and 1823 and is a former military site that has been abandoned since 1988. The former barracks decay and nature is slowly regaining ground. The extensive building complex is easy to reach as it is located in a public park. Care must be taken when entering, as some areas are at risk of collapsing.

Sometimes cultural events take place there: in June 2018, in one of the safe buildings, the R.Collectif from Liège organized a Graffiti Jam and guided tours. This was and is the ideal opportunity to discover the site in a safe way and above all to watch Graffiti artists at work.
