day trip to jardin rouge, marrakesh – feb 2016
february 23: to jardin rouge on a scooter. I brought along lots of time and my camera.
after a year, it was great to have been welcomed so warmly again by the jardin rouge team in such a relaxed atmosphere. I was led through the studios and saw the works of artists who have resided there since my last visit.
prints by hendrik beikirch could be seen in many of the rooms. a few weeks earlier, he had had his “tracing morocco” exhibition and an accompanying book presentation here. I also met the likeable French artist sunset and was given a catalogue of his work. I particularly like his “calligramme”. he is experimenting with new styles in the jardin rouge.
in the “contemporary art space”, the new, large jardin rouge exhibition building, which was still receiving finishing touches, I was able to admire tilt’s “outbound trip”. This installation was also on display at the marrakech biennale in l’blassa.
I was really excited to see all the new developments at the jardin rouge since last year! of course, the contemporary art space is impressive, as is the “tracing morocco” project which is being shown worldwide. and the large number of artist residencies deserves respect.
time passed so quickly that in the end I just had two hours to take pictures of the garden and its environment. when I said goodbye and went back to Marrakech, I returned with wonderful impressions, photos and street-art books.
jardin rouge, it was a great pleasure again!
