abandoned iraqi embassy in east berlin

the former iraqi embassy of the gdr is no longer really a true insiders’ tip, but this ghost embassy is still worth a visit.
the building was abandoned in 1991 and has since been a stronghold for souvenir hunters: furniture, typewriters and cabinets full of files were simply left behind in the rush to get out. after 2 decades, most of the furnishings are either gone or decomposed. a fire a few years ago also left its smoky traces.
in 2009, this building was used as a backdrop for a nexus music video.
